September 27, 2010 Brad Richards donates $500,000 to help local hospital
Following the very successful Dallas Stars’ training camp in Charlottetown, PEI on the weekend, Murray Harbour’s Brad Richards stopped in to visit the pediatric unit of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to make a donation of $500,000 to help children in his home province.

September 24, 2010 BMO Donates $2.5 Million to the University of Toronto
The University of Toronto announced today that BMO Financial Group has donated $2.5 million to support the expansion and renovation of the Rotman School of Management and to improve access to higher education for students from disadvantaged communities or non-traditional educational backgrounds.

September 16, 2010 McMaster University Receives $3M Donation
A class of engineering graduates from 1962 has banded together to donate $3,043,000 to support entrepreneurs developing and bringing sustainable technologies to market.
The funds will establish the Class of ‘62 Mechanical Engineering Chair in Eco-Entrepreneurship and a Fund for Sustainable Entrepreneurship. The Chair will reside in the Walter G. Booth School of Engineering Practice, with funds available to support students in developing innovations. A search date for the chair holder has yet to be determined.

Nearly 40 ultrawealthy individuals and families pledged Wednesday to give away half or more of their fortunes to charity, answering a challenge issued in June by famed investor Warren Buffett, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and his wife Melinda.

August 04, 2010 Mazankowski Heart Institute Receives $2 Million Gift
A few months ago, a generous gift -- $2 million to be exact -- landed quietly at the doors of the Mazankowski Heart Institute. The donation came from a city family wishing to remain anonymous, confirmed Myrna Fyfe, fundraiser extraordinaire at the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation.
